John "Bloodstreak" Itaruki, King of the Zoras.

John’s story was never one he liked to reflect on. He started his life outside the known kingdom, as a prince of a faraway land. His life as a prince was always rather restricted, as is with most royalty. At a young age, he discovered a fascination with that of Martial Arts, specifically that which revolved around the fist and knives. By age 5, he had begun teaching himself various indirect/counterattacking moves, and how to use a knife. Now, as any mother would be, John’s mother became concerned about John’s fascination with fighting and violence. His freedoms were restricted more and more, until he was barely allowed to leave his room.

John spent about a month cooped up like this, unable to feel fresh air on his face, or roll in the grass as he so longed to do. Enough was enough. So, being a rash young boy, John set off on his own, to seek his fortune. Of course, at the tender age of 7, there was not much fortune to be found, and John soon found himself starving. He was nigh on the brink of giving up, and heading home, when he found a shiny poster, advertising the kingdom’s military, asinine angry public figure included. Of course, to a 7-year-old boy, this might as well have been a superhero. John enlisted without hesitation.

Of course, not many armies in the world will accept a small child in their ranks. That is, not until they are shown that the child in question was capable of knocking a full-grown man onto his face. John was enlisted into a special unit, known as ‘Watcher Unit’, which was a sort of black operations unit, with ties to both the Kingdom, and a League of Assassins, headed by a man named Itami Kurushii. This unit reported primarily to the League of Assassins, and took requests from the nation's king, Hikaru Itaruki.

John spent 8 years learning the tricks and secrets of the Assassins, until he had achieved the highest rank that an Assassin can earn, without being the leader of the guild. John Voltaire Itaruki had risen to the rank of Kage Sennin, or Master of Shadows. Upon his initiation, he was given the honor of choosing a title- one unique to himself, and that he would be known by for the rest of his time as an Assassin. He had thought about this for many years, and did not hesitate in his decision. “Bloodstreak” He had said, sealing the agreement in blood.

John, the Master of Shadows. While, technically, his primary duties were to train and recruit new Assassins, he knew what his moral duty was, and that he had neglected it for many years. His father had disappeared 7 years previous, along with his mother, to a kingdom named “Hyrule”.


He traveled to this “Hyrule”, and walked throughout the country, seeing what it was really like. He searched high and low, with no results, other than a few neat trinkets. Eventually, his travels took him to Zora's Domain- after all, perhaps those who governed the water would know where his father was?

All he found, however, was a bedridden Zora king, with no heir. The king asked John to find medicine, which could be obtained from the doctor at Lake Hylia. A day later, John came back with the medicine, but was too late. All he found was an attendant, who told him that the king had wanted John to have the crown, if he kept his word, and came back with the medicine. John had, grudgingly, accepted the crown, and became the first ever Non-Zora King of the Zoras.
